The donor response to the tsunami recovery effort has been unprecedented. However, to ensure that funds are spent wisely and in a manner that leverages the best possible result, updated information on the situation in the field is key. The tsunami has impacted more than 4000 km of coastline and the response required for recovery of ecosystems and restoration of livelihoods will be different for each site and circumstance. Nevertheless, sharing of lessons learned across the region will greatly enhance the success of each individual intervention. This searchable database details ongoing projects in the region related to coastal ecosystem management after the tsunami.

Those undertaking reconstruction and development action in the field are unlikely to have all the knowledge and skills required for all aspects of the work. Access to available resource, will, therefore, be of vital importance. This list of resources attempts to list together in one page relevant website and resources for coastal managers and developers.

This searchable database is a repository of project documents, guidelines, best practices in integrating environmental concerns into post-tsunami reconstruction efforts– both for the immediate tsunami activity as well as for the future. Drawing out lessons will require an active process of reflection and activation of analysis, thinking and collation of lessons.
